Google Health won’t have ads

Really??!! Let’s see…

Google Inc. won’t sell ads to support a new Internet service that stores personal medical information, CEO Eric Schmidt said Thursday in the search giant’s first detailed comments about a venture that has raised privacy concerns.

Schmidt described Google Health as a platform for users to manage their own records, such as medical test results and prescriptions. It would be accessed with a user name and password, just like a Google e-mail account, and could be called up on any computer with an Internet connection.

A primary benefit, Schmidt said, is the portability of records from one health care provider to the next. He repeatedly said no data would be shared without the consumer’s consent. “Our model is that the owner of the data has control over who can see it,” Schmidt said at the annual conference of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. “And trust, for Google, is the most important currency on the Internet.”

The service is not yet available publicly, but Schmidt said it will be an open system where third parties can build direct-to-consumer services like medication tables or immunization reminders. Google intends to profit by increasing traffic to its search site — the same approach it used with the ad-free Google News section.source

Smorty’s New look

new smorty

(Click on the picture for bigger image)

I’ve long wanted to post this image from smorty but I couldn’t find a free time to do so. Anyway, I noticed that smorty updated the bloggers control site. They started upgrading it by adding the REFERRALS button until such time that they added forum’s site and arranged the clickable button.

I personally liked and loved the new smorty design. It’s more comfy and more manageable than before. The only thing though is that, they added another obligation on submitting a post. Before they only requested the title and the link of the assignment and recently they want the bloggers to post the entire entry.

It’s still a minimum of 150 words per assignment so I guess overall its ok.

Can you believe this?

GOSH?!!! So then we’ll expect a robust gadget eh? Wow..cool huh? I can’t wait for the next gadget they’ll produce.

Falling behind rivals in flat-panel development for TVs, Sony is tying up with Japanese rival Sharp in procuring liquid crystal displays, a company official said Tuesday. Japan’s business daily The Nikkei reported in its Tuesday editions that Sony Corp. plans to invest 100 billion yen ($926 million) in a plant Sharp Corp. is building to make panels for flat TVs.

A Sony official, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, said a news conference will be held later in the day in Tokyo to give details, but would not elaborate. Sharp spokeswoman Miyuki Nakayama declined comment. Sony’s cash investment would be a plus for Sharp’s 380 billion yen ($3.5 billion) new plant for making panels for larger 40-inch, 50-inch and 60-inch flat TVs.

Construction began in December, and the plant is expected to be running by March 2010. Demand for slimmer and bigger TVs is growing around the world. Although the televisions use various panel technologies, LCD is the leading technology so far, along with plasma display panels. Sony does not make its own LCD or plasma display panels. It has been buying LCD panels from a joint venture it has with Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea. But Sony can hope to ensure panel supply through its partnership with Sharp.

Not a good one

Something’s not going right on blogger today. For some strange reason, one of my blogs was deleted. I’m pretty sure that I did not deleted it, there are only two things possibilities that happened: 1) The blogger management deleted or 2) somebody was able to access my account.

Hmmmm..whichever is which, I’m hoping that I will be able to access it again..I’m crossing my fingers here. Whew, what a big blow. I’ve already emailed blogger and let’s see what will happen.
