And by the way, there’s some sad news on this clipping too..
The chief financial officer of China’s dominant Internet search engine Baidu.com has died after an accident while on vacation in China, the company said. Shawn Wang, who joined the company in 2004, helped Baidu list on the Nasdaq stock exchange the following year. WordPress.com does not allow bloggers to monetize their free blog site. It is not a question but a fact. I am also surprise upon reading this article today. Read this article from colleen 692, she’s famous on PPP…she’s the top earner.
I do have free blogsites on wordpress and blogger and for some reason, even if I already have a page rank from my wordpress account; I did not paid attention on it. On my blogger blogs, yeah I monetized most of it and they’re earning pretty good. Hopefully though blogger would not change/amend its tos. What a blogger life huh?!
Interesting isn’t it?

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has closed an online movie download service it launched less than a year ago.
The retreat for Wal-Mart, which accounts for about 40 percent of all DVD sales, follows the company’s 2005 decision to abandoned efforts to build an online DVD rental service. The world’s largest retailer instead turned its rental service over to Netflix Inc.
Wal-Mart still operates a music download service and continues to sell CDs and DVDs at retail stores and over the Internet for shipping by mail. A message on Wal-Mart’s video download Web site said the store closed Dec. 21. The Web site said customers who already have bought movies could continue to watch them.
In a statement, Wal-Mart spokeswoman Amy Collella said the company closed the store after Hewlett-Packard Co., which provided the software running the site, “made a business decision to discontinue its video download-only merchant store service.”
Wal-Mart did not say whether it would attempt to start the service again using a different company’s software.

Group warns of sites offering unlicensed music
People who received MP3 players as holiday gifts may want to steer clear of some Web sites that claim to offer legal music but don’t have licensing agreements with major music labels, the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) said.
CDT, a consumer rights group, has published a list of more than 30 MP3 download sites that don’t have licensing deals with major U.S. music labels. The sites, which charge between $20 and $35 for subscriptions, say they offer music from artists signed to the major labels, CDT said.
Consumers should be aware of the sites on the list because in some cases, they may simply provide subscribers popular peer-to-peer (P-to-P) software that’s otherwise free, said David Sohn, CDT’s senior policy counsel. And customers using P-to-P software to trade unauthorized music files could face lawsuits from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), he said.
“People might get the false impression of what they paid for was legal,” Sohn said. “If you pay $25, you might think that $25 goes to compensate the rights holder.” The CDT tried to contact the operators of each site on its MP3 warning list. In each case, the site operators did not respond.
